X-Com Terror from the Deep is now on STEAM! X-Com TFTD is the sequel to X-Com: UFO Defense, which is arguably the best game ever and the only game which has never been duplicated sucessfully. TFTD isn%26#39;t as good as UFO Defense but it%26#39;s much harder. It%26#39;s still a great game and at the price it%26#39;s being released it%26#39;s a bargain. I%26#39;m really excited by this. Although I have the DOS and Windows version of X-Com 1 and 2 I%26#39;ll be buying this one too. And since 2K is releasing this, I so hope that they%26#39;re doing a remake.X-Com: TFTD now on STEAM!!!
For a 12 year old game (which should be freeware imho [like GTA 2]), its kinda pricey.X-Com: TFTD now on STEAM!!!
For a 12 year old game (which should be freeware imho [like GTA 2]), its kinda pricey.
$2.45 is pricey?And I thought I was cheap.
I would pay at least $20 for it. You clearly don%26#39;t know X-Com.
Yeah, I saw that this weekend on there, and I think i%26#39;m gonna pick it up. For one of the best games hands down, at least in it%26#39;s time, it%26#39;s worth it.Hey Zuljiin, did you get to any of the devil%26#39;s games? I hope my Flyers are a bit better next year, being last place by a mile was fairly depressing!! Hopefully we%26#39;ll be competitive next year, but I doubt it highly. At least the stinkin rangers lost today, but at the same time I can%26#39;t stand Buffalo....Good playoffs none the less, far better than the NBA%26#39;s that%26#39;s for sure. :)
Best $2.45 I have spent in a looong time.

Kinda wierd. Yeah Rangers lost. Happy as anything right now. Since the Devils weren%26#39;t going I thought, ''If the Devils aren%26#39;t going, then sure as hell the Rangers aren%26#39;t.''I%26#39;m rooting for Buffalo in the east but the Ducks in the west...Anyway... X-Com 2 rocks, but does anyone know if the steam version still had that damn research tree bug?
Interesting, I might buy it.
Best $2.45 I have spent in a looong time.
That makes two of us! ;)
Now if we can only get Enemy Unknown and Apocalypse I%26#39;ll be one happy camper!
Have any of you tried the new UFO Extraterrestrials game? It just came out a few days ago and is almost an exact remake of Xcom with a few little quirks. I am debating getting it. I Really enjoy Xcom and have for ever, but I play it so meticulously I get bogged down rather fast (like reloading the combat when my soldiers die, reloading when I miss a UFO or get shot down myself, etc etc).

Otherwise I have no problems with death. It makes it interesting.... though the only other time I really reloaded was when the USA stopped it%26#39;s funding.
Thanks for the head%26#39;s up on Steam UFO Terror from the Deep. I hadn%26#39;t realized it was on there.

Your team can never die. They only get knocked out in a fight and are returned to your base if they lose. Pretty pathetic and adds absolutely nothing in the way of drama to the game. Who cares if your team that you spent weeks and months developing loses... they just have to spend some hospital time and they%26#39;re right back in the game.2. You can%26#39;t manufacture items for profit. That was a large aprt of your income in the early part of X-Com. Mass producing medkits for sale to make some extra money to equip your team. Now you solely depend on the governments of Mars to fund you. I don%26#39;t like having my income based singly on the whims of the A.I.
Unless I missed it in the Steam games purchase list, I wonder why the original XCom UFO:Enemy Unknown isn%26#39;t available on Steam because I prefer that over TFTD. TFTD was a decent sequel and still fun to play because it kept to the same gameplay which worked well but I just didn%26#39;t enjoy the underwater setting as much.
Have you even played it, or have you just heard about it? The hospital feature works out better than what most people think it would... and makes a bit more sense. I believe they said the main reason they did this was simply because a lot of people kept saving/reloading during missions if they lost a valuable soldier. In UFO:ET, sometimes a soldier can be hospitilized for a good 45 days (I believe that%26#39;s max), which can easily mean 20+ missions without him/her depending on the situation. Overall, if you *really* don%26#39;t like it....There has already been a mod made that allows death and the ability to recruit soldiers like in UFO Defense. I believe they made is so there%26#39;s around a 25% chance or so (depending on stats I think) that the soldier is just gets put into the hospital. I haven%26#39;t tried it out yet, personally I am enjoying it the way it is setup already. As far as manufacturing for profit.... I believe there%26#39;s a mod made for those who miss that feature as well. Although in the un-modded version of the game you really don%26#39;t have time to waste engineers on producing useless junk.... I%26#39;m currently strugging with making armor and laser weapons. You can%26#39;t *buy* a ton of engineers like you could in X-Com, and the upkeep of scientists/engineers is pretty high... I think it makes the game more of a challenge this way. Overall, UFO:ET is the closest thing we%26#39;ll see to UFO Defense for a VERY long time. The game feels almost identical in a lot of ways, which is a very good thing. I firmly believe this game is a definite *must buy* for any fans of X-Com. If I had to give it a rating, I%26#39;d say it%26#39;s a 8.0 in my book. The only reason I wouldn%26#39;t give higher is because of the limited engine they decided to make for it...I wish they could have gotten the Silent Storm engine for this remake. Chaos Concepts (devs) made this game for the hardcore X-Com fans... .They%26#39;re not going to make any money off of this game, especially since their publisher is going for the *no advertisment* route (probably wouldn%26#39;t be worth the cost).
Just heard about it. As far as I know there is no demo for it. If I%26#39;m wrong please point me to it and I will give it a try.
A few months ago I believe the devs said the demo was almost done, but I don%26#39;t think they have said anything about it since then. It%26#39;s possible they just dumped it for some reason, or they%26#39;re waiting longer to release it. Not too sure what the demo would involve... I suppose a single tactical mission might be good enough. The thing is, UFO:ET was not made to appeal to *new* players. A person who has never played X-Com would never even think twice about picking this game up, just after looking at the screenshots alone. I doubt a demo would help sales, most people who have been watching this game have already bought it, if not they%26#39;re just waiting for it to be released via retail. As I said, this game is a *must buy* for fans of X-Com: UFO Defense/Enemy Unknown... If your a fan, buy it...
