Need Space Simulation

Im looking for a space simulation thats fairly new but have no idea on what to get? I thinking about the X Series but if I get that should I start with X 1 then progress to X 3 or jump straight to X 3?Need Space Simulation
Freespace 2, and just add the upgraded textures mod to it and it looks amazing!Need Space Simulation
start with x2 or 3 they have more eye candy witch is needed in the early game where your putting around selling ores with a transport trying to make cash

if u dont mind playing an old game i could recommend freelancer by ms studios:D it was out in like 2002 but the storyline n control scheme is spectacular n i havent played any other space sim like freelancer
Darkstar One - Ive played maybe 3-5 hours into it, good visuals, and what looks like long gameplay. I%26#39;ve got the first ship upgrade/transform. It did get repetitive for me, maybe I just need to play into it farther.

Definitely a great space/flight sim that I really enjoyed when I played it. Sure, it%26#39;s a few years old, but I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;d enjoy it.
I got to agree with everyone so far. Also, Freespace 2 is legally free. But my favirote of all those mentioned is Freelancer. Me and 3 buddies still play it. Just find a good 24/7 server and your set. We play with the Discovery Mod 4.28. It adds 97 new ships (including HUGE battleships), 20 something-odd star systems, new commodities, and new weapons. But yeah Freelancer of Freespace 2. X2 and X3 are awesome, they have a steep learning curve which requires some patience......
Freeespace 2, Freelancer
Frontier - Elite 2, but its not new :?
Freespace 2 is on gamespots ''Greatest Games of All Time'', so definatly get that.  With the new Source Code Mod, of course, which replaces eveyrhting with high-res looking graphics and visuals.  Really a treat to play. There is also The Babylon Project, which is based off of the same thing that ran Freespace 2, except you can download it for free without needing the orignal game.  You gotta remeber to download the campangs individually online thier website though.
try the WC / BSG freespace2 mods
there%26#39;s starlancer which is also like freespace and a prequel to freelancer
Thanks for all the games... Ill probally be going with X3 for I don%26#39;t really care for a story right now, just need a game to pass time on...
seriously, get this.. http://www.game-warden.com/bsg/ And set the controls up like an FPS, as in having movement on WADS and look on Mouse, because the flight system involves side, up, down thrusting, backpedaling, Sliding (pointing at one direction while keeping another course). All this might be hard to do and manage if you%26#39;re playing with a joystick.
