Looking to buy a new game to play online? any advice

i plapy hl dm alot.. its pretty cool , is it the best FPS game out right now? then i was looking for another type of game.. something lilke age of empires and rise of rome.. i loved those onlineanyone know where i can play those online at now?  not the new ones.. those dont compare to the old ones and what are the most popular games these days?    Looking to buy a new game to play online? any advice

i did and didnt like it, i would recommend EVE also its great.
so which one? fear, eve, or battlefield?
delete eve cause it take sooo much time and u have to pay monthly so i would recommend that u buy battlefield 2 and download the fearcombat for free.
Try Guild Wars, free and better than eve
Play Diablo II with expansion, much better :P And WoW of course.
does guild wars take alot of time to play?   i dont need a rpg.. if its like age of empires thats good.. so is diablo ll better than battlefield 2 and fearcombat? 
is fear combat better than halflife deathmatch? whats a game like age of empires? 
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is about to come out; buy that.
i dunno man Crysis looks like an awsome game..
