I went out and bought this game about 2 days after its realese with anticipation and a firm beleif that it was going to be a solid game with good values, graphics, replay value etc....after strating the game and relalizing you couldnt be bad only good i was going off and then as me and my mate got into it and started playing i was shocked to learn that if im ahead of him in story he does not show up on my map and i cant see him, i was thinking to myself what the point of even making this game an mmo if i cant play with my mates just cause there not up to me and thers no pvp ????????????????????? it left me puzzeld and i simply cannceld my account and now im waiting for HUXLEY, does anyone else agree with me when i say wat waste soo much potential cheers Is it Just me or did LOTRO waste soo much potential
No, I don%26#39;t think it wasted it%26#39;s potential.#1 they didn%26#39;t hide the fact you can%26#39;t be %26#39;bad%26#39; in the game.#2 There is PvP. In it you get to play as a monster (spider/wolf/orc) and fight against players.#3 You can play with your friend. That story advancement is you leaving the beginner tutorial area and entering the actual game world. That is a one time thing. Once your friend is out of the tutorial it wouldn%26#39;t matter if he%26#39;s level 6 and you%26#39;re level 50, you%26#39;d be able to see eachother and you could help him.You were too quick to judge the game and bought it without reading any write-ups on it to learn what it offers. It%26#39;s not their fault if you expected it to be something different because of that.Is it Just me or did LOTRO waste soo much potential
Rofl! Haven%26#39;t you heard of %26#39;%26#39;newbie-areas%26#39;%26#39; before? You must have done really bad research if you didn%26#39;t know that you can%26#39;t be a %26#39;%26#39;bad guy%26#39;%26#39;. What%26#39;s up with all these bad guy cliches in every game?
Sounds like you didn%26#39;t do any research on the game before buying it. Go back to WoW.

That means nothing to us. Don%26#39;t use a thousand question marks. We get your point. And our point is you don%26#39;t know what you are doing. You obviously didn%26#39;t pay any attention to the game and what it offers like the gentlemen above me. So before you go judging something you hardly even touched. Erm, well go do something else and be happy.
Freaking fanboys. Just because the guy did not do his homework does not mean the game does not lack potential, it certainly does. Turbine had a HUGE opportunity to do so much more with this license, the masses were calling for good vs. evil pvp since the announcement of this game and they ignored it. It had MUCH more potential than what they did with it, it will share the same shelf life as all the other kill this and level games out there. Monster play, gimme a break! They dropped the ball, could have been a epic game if they made where you could play evil as well. Reminds me of another City of Heroes, they realized they screwed up by not making it so you could be a villian too, yea they tried to make up for it but too little too late. LOTRO will share the same fate. There are more MMORPG%26#39;s coming out, sooner or later one will get it right and your little Hobbit community will dwindle to nothing. Have fun.
Freaking WoWtards.... The masses weren%26#39;t and aren%26#39;t screaming for ''good vs. evil''. The vast majority of MMORPG players actually couldn%26#39;t care less about PvP. Besides, there actually IS PvP in LotRO. It%26#39;s just not the passe cookie-cutter variety you get in a generic and homoginized game like WoW. God forbid developers actually try to do something different. Seriously, I think a lot of these new MMORPG gamers should probably stick with their consoles and leave PC games for the grown ups.
Honestly, there was no huge hype or potential to begin with. It was speculated that it would be something similar to WoW, with nothing too flashy or innovative and it delivered. It%26#39;s a dumbed down MMORPG, probably the perfect game to new MMO players or former WoW players.
Having played WoW for over 2 years i found LOTR:O to be extremely dull , the combat system is a direct ripoff from what you find in WoW , classes took less then 5 minutes to think up and the fact that there is no REAL pvp in the game , nor is there an evil side to it . Say whatever you want and spit on WoW while your at it , but LOTR:O is a game suited for those who never played any other MMO%26#39;s before it because it lack content and originality . The fact that you can only play a ''good guy'' in the game just makes it more appealing to care-bears .
Sounds like you didn%26#39;t do any research on the game before buying it. Go back to WoW.
You hit the proverbial nail on the head. Don%26#39;t get mad because you didn%26#39;t research the game. There were plenty of people that played int he beta that posted about the game.

He is just saying the game could have been much better using the LOTR license
I was dissapointed in this game as well. The PVP is lame, and since I came from DaoC, in a MMO that%26#39;s what I%26#39;m all about.
Freaking fanboys. Just because the guy did not do his homework does not mean the game does not lack potential, it certainly does.
This has nothing to do with being a fanboy or not. The guy barely got out of the tutorial and he%26#39;d already made his mind up about the game. That%26#39;s like installing Half-Life, loading it up, then uninstalling it and saying it sucks because you don%26#39;t get to shoot anything and the game world is so small. For the first 10minutes or so you%26#39;re just walking around. As for PvP sucking, maybe you need to think back to WoW%26#39;s PvP. When the game came out PvP was pointless and mindless. There were no battlegrounds, there was no honor system, there were no rewards from PvPing. Features evolve with the game, LOTRO%26#39;s monster play will likely be expanded far more. The poster was ticked off because the game doesn%26#39;t have PvP and he couldn%26#39;t play with his friend. He has been corrected. I guess we should all go ahead and agree with incorrect posts like his in the future though so we don%26#39;t get labelled as ''fanboys''. Get real man.

Just borrow mommy and daddys money to build a computer. All your worth. And you relize all you had talked about what the PVP and nothing else?
Yes it%26#39;s just a WOW clone

That%26#39;s the funniest thing I%26#39;ve read in a long time. You Blizzard fanatics really give me a chuckle. You do realize that a lot of those ''original'' concepts you%26#39;ve been plaing in WoW for the past two years were stolen from companies like Turbine and Sony, right? Actually, I liked WoW better the first time it was released...when it was called Asheron%26#39;s Call 2. I suppose the next thing you%26#39;ll tell us is that Blizzard invented fire and on the seventh day Blizzard rested.Anyhow, get a clue (or out of the fifth grade) before you run off flapping about who stole what and from whom. Sheesh....
