k should i buy Command and Conquer 3: Tiberiam Wars ( i think i spelt tiberiem wrong) or Empire earth 3 or World in Conflict. I really cannot decide. ThanksRTS troubles
Command and Conquare 3 is the only RTS that been released out of the 3 you said. I never was a fan of command and conquare so I would go for Empire Earth 3 (release at the end of the year). RTS troubles
Just get C%26C 3 now if you can%26#39;t wait to play something.
buy all 3 of them
Get C%26C3

C%26C 3
Buy CnC 3 first, and buy the one that comes out first then get the last one.
If they were all out id go with World in conflict
C%26C3
k i know empire earth 3 and world in conflict arnt out but thanks to ur responses i'm gonna get C%26C3

Titan Quest quick spec question before i buy.

Hi
I exceed the minimum but not the recommended..I have an Athlon2800+ cpu(2ghz) and a Nvidia 6200.. the demo runs ok if not perfectly smooth..I was thinking of buying the download version....Just wondering if it will be wqorth it with the specs i have? also 1.28gb of ram

thanks in advance..Can%26#39;t really afford to upgrade right now. Titan Quest quick spec question before i buy.
It will run pretty much the same as the demo.Titan Quest quick spec question before i buy.
I have a p4 2.56ghz 1gig ram on 6600gt 128 and that game had alot of lag on medium and for some reason snow textures were messed up. It was playable...Now I got a new 22'' monitor with much higher resolution and game is barely playable now, will play again when get my new computer.
sounds like i shouls hold up i guess....

My GF's comp is an A64 3500+ with 1 gig of ram and a 9800 pro, and she runs it fine on medium settings @ 1024x768. I'm guessing the resolution is just overpowering the video card, yeah.

Pirates game

Hello all member any body now a good pirets game and plz the type is stratigy game not action  Pirates game
Sid Meier%26#39;s Pirates! is a fantastic game.  Check its gamespace out on Gamespot.  It blends a little bit of everything together - strategy, trading, adventure, and a few other mini-games.  Well worth a look.Pirates game
Sid Meier%26#39;s Pirates! is good, but its about half strategy half action. I think its a game anyone can really enjoy. But if you are looking for something a bit deeper and more complex, theres Port Royale 2, and if you want something thats more focused on trading, building, and strategy (with the ability to be a pirate) theres Patrician 3.

Playing cell factor without phyx card!

Ok the demo is finaly here! Here are some instructions on how to play the game even if you do not have a physx card. If you dont have the game then you can download it here.http://hdvg.net/index.php?option=com_docman%26task=doc_details%26gid=129%26Itemid=26http://www.fileplanet.com/176835/170000/fileinfo/CellFactor:-Revolution-Client-%5BFree-Game%5Dhttp://uk.gamespot.com/pc/action/cellfactor/download.html?sid=6170252%26tag=topslot;title;5%26om_act=convert%26om_clk=topslot     Credits to Iced_Eagle from hl2world forum for a work around.

PPU is required to really play the game, but I found a workaround...

Here%26#39;s the workaround that I posted about in HL2.net... Enjoy!

I can%26#39;t really find a way to disable the debugging stuff, but o well, at least you get to play around with the physics...

Basically all you do is load up Reality Builder, and launch the game from there...

Now you can do what I did which was go through and on each visible entitiy change the IsHidden bool variable in the ''Visibility'' category to false... The one thing I can%26#39;t figure out is the AI Path node and how to hide that.

Also, since it isn%26#39;t really running a ''game'', the flag, and vehicles won%26#39;t work... Cloth also doesn%26#39;t appear (most likely because you truly need the PPU for that)

So to do this just go Start -> All Programs -> Artificial Studios -> CellFactor -> CellFactor Editor

From there go File -> LIMBO_FuelingStation

Give it a min or two to load, then once the level has finished loading you need to position yourself over an area of land... Hold Right-Click and move yourself (using WASD) over a nice area where you want to spawn in... Hit F5 and give it about 2 minutes or so (it should appear like nothing is happening... Just give it time!)

Once you are in, you should get a warning about a Cloth Script, just hit OK.

Woot woot, now you are in-game!!! Run around shoot stuff, and play with those physics!
Quote: WSAD, Arrow Keys: Move forward %26 backwards, strafe left %26 right
Mouse movement: Turn
Left Mouse Button: Shoot Assault Rifle (Primary Weapon) / Swing Flag Pole (CTF mode)
Right Mouse Button: Shoot Impact Grenade (Secondary Weapon)
Mouse Wheel Button: Jump, Fly Up (when Psi-Overcharged)
Mouse Wheel Up: Extend Psi-Pull distance when holding an object, Zoom in (Sniper Mode)
Mouse Wheel Down: Contract Psi-Pull distance when holding an object, Zoom out (Sniper Mode)
Left Shift: Run
Z: Enter/Exit Sniper Mode
R: Reload/Drop Flag
C: Crouch, Fly Down (when Psi-Overcharged)
E: Activate, Enter vehicle
V: Throw Gravity Grenade
F: Throw Proximity Mine
Q: Toggle View (First Person or Third Person)
T: Regular Chat
Y: Team Chat
K: Self Kill (costs points!)
Spacebar: Psi-Push (Allows to push objects around in world)
Left Control: Psi-Pull (Allows to pick up objects in world)
Spacebar + Control (Press %26 Hold Together): Psi-Charge (Allows to push off ground when released) o get ammo: Shoot the square indestructible metal boxes a few times, and ammo will pop-out

To get the Psi-Overcharge, there is a rectangular box that I think has the radiation symbol on it... Shoot that a few times and a blue-thing will pop up, just run over that and you are in Psi-Overchage!

Enjoy...

BTW, you really don%26#39;t get the full experience playing this way... It%26#39;s just a workaround so you can mess around... It%26#39;s not really a ''game'' in this state, but more like a sandbox..

If you want vehicles in-game you need to do the following...

Go into the Editor, and the top there is a drop-down Box (this is the Actors List)... Simply click on either CFHelicopter or CFTruck and click Insert.... Then use the gizmo%26#39;s to put them where you want them (In the top of the toolbar there is a downward arrow, this is the Land-Down button, so you can put the vehicles right on the ground so they don%26#39;t clip through and get stuck) Playing cell factor without phyx card!
a year ago when all this physics card crap and games using it came out i thought it looked really cool now it just looks boring as hell.....Playing cell factor without phyx card!
I have no idea what the fook I%26#39;m doing in Reality Builder. This takes too much effort. I%26#39;m just gonna go buy a card.
I have no idea what the fook I%26#39;m doing in Reality Builder. This takes too much effort. I%26#39;m just gonna go buy a card.
Yes, that%26#39;s what I did. The card is actually not that expensive, plus I am all set for Unreal Tournament 3. And I am a huge GRAW fan so this card pays for itself in awesomeness.
I enjoy this game immensly.  Best free download ever.  Great music, great graphics, nice multiplayer.  Only downside is in 1 level (#3), there are a little many objects, like broken roads and grates to try and run over.  The cheesy Quake voices too I am not fond of, but ''PhysX Kill'' sounds sweet :D.

Anyways, great game, glad I have my PhysX card.
I understand that UT3 will support the physics cards, but will you actually need the card to play the game? If so, then I guess I won%26#39;t be getting UT3. I aint spending $200+ (game and card to play game) to play one game. I will be running a 8800GTS 640MB.
no you wont need it to play.  just like you dont need it to play Cell Factor and any other game that uses Ageia...Rainbow 6 Vegas, GRAW, Infernal, Splinter Cell 4, Vanguard and City of Heroes/villains
cell factor controls are insanely complex, like madness, to many keys to bind and remember, i aint even gonna bother
cell factor controls are insanely complex, like madness, to many keys to bind and remember, i aint even gonna bother
meh, just have to know your class.  I have been playing the game for a year now, so Im quite intune with them.  But like all games, takes a bit to get to know.
So this allows you to play the locked levels like reactor?
Crytek said the cards a bunch of crap and they wont be suppoting it for Crysis. Cell factor doesn%26#39;t even need it apart from the fact it isn%26#39;t optimized for use without it

FUnny thing is there will barely be any difference.(Well at least for the non-physx required levels)
hmm.. I just found a physx card for $138 on google.. I think the price is comign down to reality on these
Ofcourse you are gonna have lots of physX in the game wit no PhysX card. But you dont get cloth tearing, bullet ricochets, sound waves, more dismatiling. This just goes to show you, how good physX is.  theres so much going on.

Also, Terrorantula, please get me a link for what you say Crysis saying that. I acutally thought they never looked into Ageia, because Havok had gotten there first, then brought out GPU physics.
physx has some big probs.  actually slows down your PC if you have a fast PC.  Not to mention there are only about 4 PC games that use it.   What is the point of what is essentially a math co-processor with mutli core chips and fast GPU%26#39;s.  They obviously can%26#39;t keep up with AMD/AMD/INTEL and NVIDIA, should get out of the game.
youre reading old info.  PhsyX does not slow your PC downthat was only when GRAW first came out and it was fixed.  The purpose of a PPU is to give more physics to the game and letting the CPU be used to its fullest.  They haev nothing to do with ATI, nvdia, Intel or AMD.
Personally heres what I%26#39;d like AGEIA to end up doign with thier PhysiX processor and future games:I%26#39;d like the whole push for ''PhysiX on multicore and GPU%26#39;s'' to happen, and have Ageia develop thier PhysiX technology for that.  This theoretically should be good for everyone, as it will allow everyone to play those coveted ''PhysiX'' games. However, for those of use who are still on single cores or cant afford a really expensive GPU with ''PhysiX'' on it, have the PhysiX cards avalalbe for purhcase for a reasonablly cheap price (less than $150 or so).  This way, the push to Multi-core and better GPU%26#39;s are there, but we can still purchase easy-to-instal ''piggy-back'' CPU%26#39;s (aka the PhysiX card) that could do the PhysiX (mabey even act as a kind of CPU core in itself!)Wouldnt that be grand?  That way everyone wins, including me (so I dont have to buy a Dual Core in order to experience the best out of physics in games in the future).

PhysiX will only be profitable if they start making their own CPUs or do something interesting.. The way it stands, Intel could simply add another core, or keep the two cores already had- they basically do exactly the same thing the physix cards do.. The only difference is that the game is made in such a way to optimize something other than the CPU to handle physics calculations.. The way it is now, you could make a game optimized in such a way that it used one core for normal CPU stuff, and the other for physics, if you really wanted to, but it doesn%26#39;t work as well. Basically, PhysiX, the way it stands right now, is just basically adding another middle-man in the processer game for no reason, and you, and we, get to pay for basically the name, when AMD or Intel can make their own stuff better for cheaper. The game is what determines what it uses which processor core or PhysiX card for what.. It%26#39;s just a gimmick, now..
... have the PhysiX cards avalalbe for purhcase for a reasonablly cheap price (less than $150 or so).
The PhysX cards (not PhysiX) are already priced below $150, so go get one already :)

whch game would you say is better because im going to buy wichever one is best is world of warcraft better or worse than lord of the rings online shadows of angmar .......... thankyouworld of warcraft . vs . lord of the rings online
World of Warcraft, but I warn you, its more work than it is a game.world of warcraft . vs . lord of the rings online
LOTR because its actually fun to play not a task.
The sensible thing to do would be to wait for a free trial to come along (WoW has one on atm) and play both...choosing teh one you prefer. It doesn%26#39;t matter what people here say is better it%26#39;s up to you :)But...for what it%26#39;s worth...my prefernce is LOTR:Online. The license is not really an issue to me and the game has bundles of atmosphere :) Ade.
I would go with LOTRO since it%26#39;s still very early and to soon to say if Turbine has screwed it up. LOTRO has time to grow and improve, and its first major update is coming in a month. However, I must warn you LOTRO currently lacks the mindless fun factor that WOW has, and so the game can really only be played in stints as it gets boring. It%26#39;s not something I would say you can marathon, at least not yet in my experience with it.As for WOW, it%26#39;s glory days are behind it. Blizz ruined everything that was great about the game with the expansion.
I have been playing World of Warcraft for more then a year and I love it. I am in a very big guild. I do want to try LOTR Online but am waiting for free 14 days. I will make my vote then.
WoW
Lotr is full price right now and these games tend to be buggy when new (Never played so guessing on that :) )Wow is 20 bucks and you get a free month and it%26#39;s a proven game. If the cartoony graphics don%26#39;t turn you off then its still the best out there.
I havent tried either but based on what you guys are saying I think Il go and try WoW
LotRO without a question.  It has an actual story to it (imagine that) and, unlike many newer MMORPG%26#39;s, it is pretty much bug free.  Turbine did a really nice job with the game.  So far the community seems a lot better than WoW%26#39;s but, then, I can%26#39;t imagine any game community being worse than WoW%26#39;s.  WoW is seriously overrated.
lotro
I can%26#39;t stand fantasy games (or movies or books).  The idea of paying to play one online boggles my mind!
wow gets boring fast IMO I played the preview for lorto. The impression it gave me was bad, because there were so many players it made questing hard, and take 5x as long. Plus i was playing on low graphic settings. I%26#39;d go with Vanguard if you can run it. It has the most features by far

After playing WoW for 2 1/2 years and LotR for all of 3 days.  I%26#39;ll say that WoW is the better game, but that doesn%26#39;t mean it%26#39;s the one to buy or play.  I think that the gameplay is more flushed out and the stability on it is really good.  There is a deep lore in WoW now that might be missed if you do grind out to 70 without paying attention to it, and the lore in LotR is great obviously but I%26#39;m concerned that it might get limiting to the games development as you only have the 2 books to base the game on.My initial opinion of LotR is that it is a quality game and I%26#39;m having fun with it.  I%26#39;d rate WoW the better game, but I%26#39;m not planning on playing that in the near future as it has just grown sooooooo stale. One other note:  I played AC back in the day and one of the great things was that Trubine always did a monthly update where they added new content, and they had some live events that changed the world.  In my time in WoW nothing in the world has actually changed.  Sure they added instances and stuff, but the barren is the barrens and has never changed.  To me the world just isn%26#39;t dynamic and I%26#39;m hoping to see that out of LotR based on my history with Trubine.WoW is a 9/10 all timeLotR is an 8/10 right now and that could go up.

a fair amount of the crysis media we've seen has been effectively DX9, too.
Hope it will be DX9 compatible.Don%26#39;t want Vista right now and DX9 cards have not been pushed to their limits yet, and this DX10 tecnology sucks because of that. If Dx9 was still the most advanced for this whole year, DX10 and DX10 cards would be cheaper AND better.
DX 9 will be fine.
It will be DX9 compatible. The UE3 engine is almost based entirely on DX9, so there%26#39;s no way it%26#39;s DX10 only. They would need to do a complete rewrite of their engine if that was truly the case.

And the other argument of having to always buy the most expensive parts, which has been proved many times to be falseAnd finnaly that every PC gamer is an MMO addict, where as that simply isn%26#39;t true.

I thought they were supposed to be a professional website. This Gamesradar article really annoyed me...
Don%26#39;t be annoyed.  That article was so chock full of misinformation it pretty much PROVES the point the author is trying to disprove.  By being so completely out of touch with the actual reality of the pc gaming world, he basically shows that yes, console fans don%26#39;t know SQUAT, and that pc gamers are more informed and savvy.  It might trick a few uninformed console kiddies, but for the people who are informed and educated on the subject...can just read it and laugh their arses off at the author. This Gamesradar article really annoyed me...
i was just reading the xkcd archive thinking i wouldn%26#39;t laugh this hard again for a few days at least, but gamesradar proved me wrongnice find, that%26#39;s some funny, funny stuff
This made me laugh so much. I really think this guy has lost the plot, what the hell was he smoking when he wrote that? I actually have a close friend who used to talk just like that about pc gamers. That was until he had enough money to buy a top spec pc, his whole attitude changed then. Funny isn't it.
As a pc gamer I tend to end up hating other PC gamers in system wars pretty much because they try to be elitest fanboys, which this article.  I love PC gaming but it%26#39;s a far cry from the ''be all end all'' that many PC fans say it is.  One major problems is ease of entry.  To hardcore PC folks like us this isn%26#39;t a problem, but just look at the insane amount of pc help threads between the PC games, and Hardware forum.  It%26#39;s obviously something that%26#39;s not as easy as PC fans claim. In the golden era of PC gaming it was fairly easy for PC fans to claim superiority but today they just sound like any other fan boy using faulty logic and inexperience to prove their point.
That article=lame. The guy obviously has no clue what he is talking about and has never been a PC gamer. I would go on a long rant about this, but the guy that wrote it made himself look like a big enough ass as it is, he sure doesn%26#39;t need my help with that.

While reading the rant I found myself wanting to debate his points then I looked at the picture. I was then reminded that one should not argue with an idiot because anyone watching might not be able to tell who is the real idiot. But I did laugh.
This article really made me laugh. I guess he is right, all what he have is FPS, RTS and MMO games. I guess now I will go and play Sam and Max.
all i can do is feel sorry. not for him, but for the people that have to deal with him on an everyday basis. his ignorance knows no bounds, but his knowledge obviously does. he%26#39;s obviously the one feeling insecure if he has to rant about how uncomfortable PC%26#39;s make him.

Good RTS games on a bad laptop

I%26#39;m a big RTS fan but I%26#39;m stuck with a laptop that wasn%26#39;t designed for gaming. It has some basic capabilities but I don%26#39;t think it can run anything good these days. Does anyone know a good RTS game that might work on my laptop. Please tell me something because I%26#39;m sick of sub par RTS games on my Gamecube like Army Men RTS. I don%26#39;t know all the specs for my laptop but here%26#39;s what I do know:I have a Windows XP laptop with: an ATI graphic card that has 128 MB of VRAM, 512 MB of RAM in my laptop, 60GB of free hardrive space, and a Pentium 3 CPU.I don%26#39;t care how old the game is as long as it has a good score out of ten. I%26#39;m even willing to set all settings to low or off as long as it works. I%26#39;m that desperate.Good RTS games on a bad laptop

Yes, definately Darwinia, and add Defcon to that list as well. You can get both on Steam right now.

What's there to look foward too?

hey,    PC gaming has been really slow this last year (2006, and i guess 2007). Not much good coming out these days, look at what a mess spiderman 3 is for the PC. Also, supreme commander is okay, got old really fast though, and I have yet to try CC3, seemed better from the demo. Titan quest is a massive investment of time, although a good game, sorta gets old fast too i guess.      Stalker was a rather large dissappointment, I always felt lost in terms of keeping track of the missions. And infernal is just a very poor game. Kinda kewl at first, but later on just gets boring. The only game that%26#39;s recently kept my interest is Red Star for the PS2, just a heck of alot of fun. There%26#39;s Crysis coming up, seems like a decent game, as well as Lost Planet for the PC, big capcom fan. Of course GTA 4, but other than that there%26#39;s not really alot of PC exclusive games that seem interesting. Lately every game coming out has been one dissapointment after another.      I know this has probably been argued to death ''PC gaming is on the downfall'', but realistically, with Vista having poor support for games, it seems unlikely that the PC scene will suddently flourish with a multitude of good titles. Also, someone point me to that giant list of upcoming PC games that everyone is looking foward to ;).Cheers What's there to look foward too?
Unreal 3 will be hugehalf life2: episode 2 comes with portal and team fortress 2 for $20 i think Two worlds looks like it will be 5x better than oblivion Age of Conan one of the first fantasy MMO real time action games Shadowrun a counter strike like game with magic I%26#39;m sure there are some games I%26#39;m forgetting but these are the top PC games im looking forward to in the next couple months What's there to look foward too?
Well all i can say is you must have too much time on your hands if you are bored of all the games, i have a pc full of amazing games that i just can't find the time to finish. Coh, Sup com, stalker, medieval 2, oblivion just a few. There are many games to look forward to also, Crysis, quake wars, unreal 3, two worlds, the witcher, warhammer online the list just goes on and on. Also the slowdown in quality games is even worse on the consoles, trust me.
Allow me to direct your attention to this thread stickied at the top of the forum.

Crysis as well for me.
CRYSIS!!!!!!!!!!
Theres no doubt that Crysis and Bioshock will be the biggest games of 07. HL2 e2 will also be a major release this fall. Can%26#39;t forget about ET Quake wars either.
UT3 FTW
if by biggest you mean most popular, i think that%26#39;ll be hellgate - diablo has sold over 17 million units, and while the name flagship doesn%26#39;t carry quite as much weight as blizzard just yet, a significant percentage of the diablo community is backing hellgatethere%26#39;s also crysis which will have massive support from the pc gaming communityand while i get the impression that it won%26#39;t have much commercial success (despite probably being goty), bioshock seems to have a large and ever-growing communitybut sims 2 and wow will still probably top charts every month
World in Conflict is gonna be an awsome game i can say its going to be the best stragic game of 2007. People are pre-ordering the game so much at my job they can%26#39;t pre-order it anymore its going to be an awsome game that i will pick up. Im just not to sure if i should i have a Nvidia Gforce SLI 8800 that i hope will run this game good, i will pick it up for sure and see how good it looks on my voodoo. World in Conflict will be an awsome game for sure the game has awsome graphics and a 360 camera view.
umm oblivion maybe? or that was 1996 lol
Crysis will definantly win this honor and it may not even be the best game it will be more of a ''Wow'' look at that sort of game it is basically my feelings is it%26#39;s going to turn into another Doom 3 / Far Cry deal where its really hyped and lots of people buy it but the gameplay/online and everything just will be mediocre and will be put back in your gaming library after a month but will be pretty to look at...But I think definantly if hellgate london does come out this year that game will be hands down ''Shouldbe'' winner.
no way, crysis isnt gonna come in 07.
Crysis, by a longshot.

People are saying fear and battlefield 2? My gosh, you need at least something in the geforce 6800/radeon 9800 pro range to play either of them well. Crappy computers are more like having integrated graphics cards and stuff. Anywho, my reccomendations are: Half life 1 or 2, max payne 1, serious sam first and second encounter, and grand theft auto 3 and vice city.
half life 1+ all the mods that come with that, www.Ijji.com has a few good games, Postal 2, the old C%26C, Starcraft, Quake, CS 1.6, Battlefield 1942 and i cant think of anymore.

Max payne 1 and 2 are great, as well as the first Deus Ex, which is an RPG. Warcraft and Starcraft battlechests will do you perfect as well if you want to get into some great RTS games that aren%26#39;t that complicated and highly addicitive. If you like Adventure games, I would highly suggest The Longest Journey. For space sims that are still great today, definately pick up Freespace. Oh and a must have  is Enemy Territory(google it), it%26#39;s a free download and it still rocks to this day, and you should have no problem at all running it.

What tactic do you use when playing Supreme Commander?

Just wanted to get a view of some people%26#39;s playing styles.  I Personally Tech up, then start building units. It often gets me killed, but at least i have the satisfaction of being level 3.  What tactic do you use when playing Supreme Commander?
I try and capture mass points on the map that have strategic value, to get a good economy going - at the same time i try to tech up to play with experimental units. I also have a bad habit of making to many defense structures and over shielding bases..

Towards the end of the game i usually use one or two SCU's to strategically reap havoc on the computers bases. What tactic do you use when playing Supreme Commander?
I usually find balancing everything out the best way to go, both expanding, scouting, producing units and teching all simultaneously. I can%26#39;t wait for the ginormous patch coming up :) I heard the balance is basically perfect :D
Indeed there will be lots of balance changes in the upcoming patch, not all of which I'm enthusiastic about. But I'll reserve my judgements till I get to play it.

I'm more of an expansive map-control type of player, starting off with T1 units to take and hold territory to put my opponent on the back foot from the get-go. I then concentrate my resources to gain air superiority, which then goes into providing my land and sea forces with fast-deploying extra firepower. I attack at T2 naval or T3 land.

I build experimentals in pretty rare situations, for example when there is a particularly heavy defence line I would like to break, but I always keep some strat bombers up my sleeve in case my opponent decides to deploy one.
Well you really can%26#39;t judge the balance on the changes  alone I mean we don%26#39;t even know what effect all the new units they are adding will have on the game! Yes the next patch is bringing new units :)
Turtle turtle turtle....then, spiderbot spiderbot spiderbot!  with a nuke to boot
i like to not play it, and i gotta tell ya its awesome!
i used to tech up, then i changed to sending units from all levels while teching up. from that day i never lost.
Wow, just finished playing a 4 hour game. Me and my friend vs a Supreme and a Challenge. Fuuun! - Marred by the lagging and freezing i get from not enough RAM. We ended up nuking each other :P

Sry never heard of it.
lol really?
I believe it%26#39;s still fairly popular, although I haven%26#39;t checked for a few months.   If you want *real* Rainbow Six (not that Vegas BS), it%26#39;s definitely worth installing and playing again.
yea i heard that there was a bit of resentment towards vegas...well i want for the reinstall (ran into truckloads of errors) but i got there in the end. at first i had troubale logging on so i had to dload a file that did some wired thing...then i had cd key trouble, then no servers were showing up even though it said that there were ppl on there (i had show only servers that are in favourites XD), then i had to dload punkbuster (if i had run into one more error after that i would have cremated my disc) but i didnt. i played for a bit and it was quite worth it...
There are atleast 300 servers anytime.
I don%26#39;t like Raven Shield because the AI was just crap.
If you like original R6 then the answer is yes
reinstalled....worth all the trouble.

PVP or co-op?

This is referring to fpses and rpgs and all kind of games since basically people shooting each other in DMs is pvp.Co-op in RPGs would be doing the campaign and/or dungeons together with friends opposed to fighting against them. There is group pvp where a team goes against another team which is considered pvp btw :P.So which one do you prefer?I think i prefer co-op...its not only funner for me but less competitive which means less insults and stuff(instead of ''yes i win!You suck!'' its more like ''woot!we won! we rock!'').So answer :PPVP or co-op?

Halo 2 Requirements

The Games for Windows site has the Halo 2 PC requirements up.   http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US/Games/Pages/Halo2forWindowsVista.aspxThey%26#39;re pretty reasonable for most home PCs, but I just got a Dell 1501 laptop, and it has an AMD sempron 3500, at 1.8GHz. I have never played a PC game in my life, so I%26#39;m a n00b here.  The CPU has to be 2GHz to play Halo 2, so will my laptop be able to play it?  Or do I have to overclock it or whatever you call it?Halo 2 Requirements
Your CPU is fine. The listed CPU requirement is in reference to Intel processors. But I%26#39;d be more worried about your video controller, which is only a Radeon Xpress 1150 (that%26#39;s what Dell%26#39;s site says anyway), and is very weak. Those requirements are actually pretty high for an XBox game, even for the much improved graphics.   I%26#39;m guessing the Live element may take up a lot of resources that warrant them though.    I believe I read a preview that mentioned a below spec PC still ran it fine on the lowest settings, which is basically the XBox versions graphics.    Overall...  they%26#39;re charging WAY too much for it.    I''m guessing the only people willing to pay full price for it will be console gamers buying it just to get some easy achievement points...    I might pick it up once it hits $20 if I%26#39;m bored one day.

Another thing Im not a very technical guy so could anybody please teach me to install new video drivers...
Sounds like a video problem to me, you might want to update your drivers. What video card do you have? ATI or Nvidia? Whichever you have, look up their website then look under the drivers, and select the appropriate one for your video card. It installs just like a game would for the most part.
I have an nvidia 7600 GS. So I just got to nvidia and look for thier drivers there?
It still wont work!!!!!! I already downloaded the drivers from nvidia (at least I think those were the right ones).Anybody else got any ideas?
Well, just out of curiousity, what patch are you using? Are you just using the official 1.2 patch or are you using the 3.5 Unofficial? If you are using the official just try using the others.
I tried installing 3.5 last nyt but I think I messed it up. I dont get how to install it
The game may be going into a resolution your monitor doesn%26#39;t support, which would make it go into stand-by.. See if there is a way to go into the .ini files or whatever, and change it to something you know you have.. I had this problem on some stupid machine in the hospital I work for, but I%26#39;ve never seen it besides that :p
it says the game can run on 1024x768 and thats what resolution my monitor has been using.wtf is wrong with this game?
The most obvious things are.. 1. Restart computer.. I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ve done that..2. Reinstall game3. update drivers for lots of stuff4. reseat connections in computer.. And tons of little things inbetween.. I suggest going to the vampire bloodlines forums themselves and seeing if anyone else has had this problem, or if they have a fix anyway..And also, try compatibility mode

I believe Vista, and i know XP has a compatibility mode.. Go to the shortcut you normally use, right click on it, click properties, and there%26#39;s a compatibility tab with a bunch of stuff in it.. You can play around with it and try different settings, but even if that does work, it still seems like somethings wrong with something, since nobody%26#39;s said it needs to be run in compatibility mode (for XP, for example)

• Oblivion Best Video Settings?

I want to play Oblivion at the highest video setting possible.  But I%26#39;m not sure which produces better graphics, their HDR setting, which I don%26#39;t even know what it is or ever heard of such a setting for other games, or thier 8x antilising w/ a few other settings that aren%26#39;t allowed while HDR is on.Oblivion Best Video Settings?
HDR = High Dynamic RangeIt%26#39;s realistic lighting, basically. Really adds a lot, I went with HDR. That said though, I didn%26#39;t try the other settings for very long. Oblivion Best Video Settings?
HDR adds a lot of realism, but i prefer AA becasue i dont like my image to look too jaggy
HDR definitely brings the game alive, highly recommend you turn it on if your GPU can handle it.
HDR, for ati ppl, HDR+8xaa, for nvidia 8 HDR+16AA
Best settings to me is max everything, but I also have a 8800GTS 640MB card, 2 GB gaming memory, and a intel core 2 duo e6600.
I hate having to choose between HDR and AA :-S
well try both, see what looks the best to you. if you can%26#39;t tell the different between the two, than doesn%26#39;t really matter which one you chose.

What's your take on ArmA and the state of our games?

I%26#39;m a huge Operation Flashpoint fan, and can%26#39;t wait to pick this title up.  I read IGN%26#39;s review and it actually made me kind of angry.  Does every game now a days HAVE to be easy and have absolute instant action and automatic saves every 30 seconds for it to be enjoyable? Are games going downhill this fast?  Pretty soon now every game is going to be simplistic point and shoot instant action bullsh+t thanks to these reviewers and kool aid drinkers.  For Christ sakes, people act like Rainbowsix Vegas is a tactical shooter!Trust me, I could go on and on for ages... but I%26#39;ll end it here, what%26#39;s your take? What's your take on ArmA and the state of our games?
I agree. ArmA scores are also brought down by lack of polish, but even with all the bugs it%26#39;s still easily 8+ game. ArmA difficulty was refreshing after nonsense like Vegas or GRAW(especialy console version)What's your take on ArmA and the state of our games?
Well for someone like me, thats someone who generally plays all games on easy and still has a hard time, i like this kind of thing. They should however make an option to cater for people who do want realism and do want a real tactical challenge. Surely its not hard to do this but i guess they are selling out to the masses like everyone else.
ArmA is just like playing Operation Flashpoint but with better graphics, so on that grounds I loved it. I have been playing it since February using a German version of the game my sister got for me, and haven%26#39;t been dissapointed so far.
I picked up the Atari US release at GameStop (I know, I know.. I tried Fry's and they didn't have it in yet :() and I'm loving it so far.

Difficult as hell, yeah, but I already went into most OpFlash missions simply expecting to die. :D
Professional game reviewers are people ust like us.  While their English and writing skills may be more polished and they might have majored in journalism, they dont have any more of an idea of what a good game is than any of us avid video gamers.  They are people with their own opinions, and they are subject to fanboyism and hype as well. So, dont listen to them.  Or if you do, read the reviews in their entirity; dont just look at the score.

Coming off WOW Addiction, Please help with a game.

I just quit WOW after a 2 year addiction. I enjoyed the game, but got tired of a few aspects of it, and the life commitment needed to achieve end game elite status LOL. Now I dont know what to play. I am not set on any genre, I am just ready for a fun game that I can complete solo. I would like it to have some multiplayer too. Maybe something, an RPG that has a good solo campaign so I can build up my character to max without scheduling my life with 25 other people, and then go online and pvp.  I like RTS too. I havent played a good one in a while, but I find when I play them I always wish I could build a huge city and then fight to protect it. Most RTS I have played you build units real fast before u get zerged.  Anyway, I am not picky ATM, I just can%26#39;t afford to buy a game that I won%26#39;t like. So please suggest anything. I like FPS, but I seem to lose interest fast.  Thank u for your coming suggestions. Coming off WOW Addiction, Please help with a game.
Medieval total war 2 is a very  good rts, lots of building but very good.Coming off WOW Addiction, Please help with a game.
Look for hellgate london it will be released in summer seems to fit what you want...except I dont think you can use single player chars in multiplayer but not sure.
download demos if you dont want to waste money
Try EVE Online or LOTRO. EVE Online has 14 day trial and LOTRO 7 day buddy keys.
Go back on WoW . thats all you need
Get Guild Wars. Sounds like your like me. You like WoW, but like having a life too. Guild Wars will allow for that.
Go back to wow level up a new char and if u like PvP wait for warhammer online
Company of Heroes is great! BUY IT!
Try EVE Online or LOTRO. Oblivion is the best game of all time, with both expansions i%26#39;ve put about 215 hours into it over the past year, and C%26C 3 is a good pick up and play RTS.  If you want  alittle more depth try civ4, and if your into FPS go with Rainbow six vegas.  All awesome games!!
Thank u all for the responses. I am downloading a demo for Company of Heroes right now. That seems pretty cool. I am really looking forward to Hellgate London, and I like the sound of the Elite package. I have tried guild wars in the past, but it didnt feal right.  Thanks again for all the help, any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

CnC is wildly popular, probably more so than FSX, so the majority of your answers will be CnC I wager. Personally, I say CnC as well.
Def C%26C3. The rating is much better.
I have FSX, and personnally I say go with C%26C3.  FSX is nice, but it feels almost exactly like FS2004 (in many cases looks the same too, for 10x the performance decrease), with more planes and a virtual cockpit for every one of them.  Not worth the full blown price, considering its basically FS2004.
C%26C3, I find flight simulators to be extremely boring. Plus, Flight Simulator X is known to have a load of frame rate issues.
CnC3, I%26#39;m not really an RTS fan but CnC3 is so much fun and I would highly recommend it.
C%26C 3.

I vote C%26C3
CnC 3, I wouldn%26#39;t get FSX unless if you have a crazy ass computer
pc-native genres like first person shooters, real time strategy and roleplaying games are always much better with a keyboard and mouse - k%26m can be awkward to adjust to, but it offers a much greater degree of control when you%26#39;re used to it - and, of course, pc games are designed to be played that waythe 360 pad is fine for most games, but if you%26#39;re going to buy one, you should really limit use to console-native genres - if you got a pc to play shooters, don%26#39;t bother buying a pad until you%26#39;ve at least spent a dozen hours trying out keyboard and mouseanother thing, while it may be pretty natural to play console games with the default control setup, the opposite is true of pc games - you can usually map any command to any key, so set the controls up in a way you%26#39;re comfortable with, set mouse sensitivity and stuff like that to things that feel right to you...

ok. Controllers are only good if you're playing third person games and whatnot. I dont know about the Vista compatibility issues and as for Xbox Live, not really, like the other guys were saying Xfire is similar but most PC games just have their own online community, like CSS has its own online stuff, AA also does ect.
The XBox360 controller is about the best gamepad available for the PC, but most PC games require a mouse and keyboard anyway. Vista won%26#39;t run many many games, they have a lot of compatibility issues. Then again, so does Win95, if you%26#39;re gonna partition off part of the drive for another OS, do it with either WinXP (only compatibility issue with really old games) or Win98. Emulators and VMware generally aren%26#39;t fast enough to run more recent games that are incompatible with Vista. As for XBox live type things, in the future, Microsoft will be rolling out the PC version of XBox Live, to be compatible with forthcoming games labelled as Game for Windows. Currently PC games don%26#39;t have a general overall compatibility system like XBoxLive though, each game has its own server browser and system.

Have you ever played inkball? It's kinda cool. But you have to play on epert mode.

They should make a Warhammer 40k:Total War

I recently got hold of Dark Crusade and the campaign really got me thinking. A 40k total war game could potentially be amazing. Sure they'd have to change alot but can you imagine battles of total war's scale in the 40k universe. Anyone else want to see this happen? They should make a Warhammer 40k:Total War
Possibly a good idea. Not a fan of the tabletop game, so I wouldn%26#39;t know how it would compare, but as for the current RTS of Dawn of War, I rekcon it wouldn%26#39;t be a bad idea.
They should make a Warhammer 40k:Total War
i think the whole metamap thing in dark crusade was a testbed to evaluate fan reaction ready for a full blown game based around it (pure speculation, but it%26#39;s what i think)i definitely think dow 2 will have a fully developed metamap style turn based thing going on - but i don%26#39;t think the battles will ever have the total war style scale - i do think we may have base building done at the turn based stage so there%26#39;s an even stronger focus on battles, basebuiding in coh was even more streamlined than dow and i don%26#39;t think relic plans to stop there... i think the scale will be upped a lot (because we%26#39;re very probably getting tyranids and we need massive swarms for that) but i don%26#39;t think we%26#39;ll ever eb approaching total war scale, as cool as that would beyeah, it%26#39;s all just pure speculation - but it%26#39;s what i%26#39;m expecting with dow2... more units, larger scale, metamap... very nearly 40k total war
Wow man, that is seriously such a great idea!  I can%26#39;t believe they haven%26#39;t tbh.  lol you%26#39;ve gotten me all excited now!!
Doesn%26#39;t look likely at all that%26#39;ll happen with the announcement of the Warhammer 40k MMO.

Poop Stain, why did you make two threads about this?  That%26#39;s rude.  And no, that PC will not run FEAR.
I think that is a 128 of video memory integrated GPU. You should be able to run FEAR fine on lowest settings but if you want to enjoy the game I suggest an upgrade a 8800GTS 340MB I recommend for people on a $300 budget.

Saitek Eclipse II

Well, I was just wondering if the Eclipse II keyboard has free USB ports. If not, what about the G11/G15?Saitek Eclipse II
I have the g11 and it has 2 that I know of.Saitek Eclipse II
i have the eclipse 2, awesome keyboard, but no extra usb ports.
all the g%26#39;s have extra ports but none of the saitek keyboards have any ports, i think, im probly wrong
The Razer tarantula has the USB ports, and audio ports as well.
The Logitech G15 has 2 USB ports.. though I don%26#39;t use the things..

who makes the best pc

i was just wodering who sells most pc%26#39;s  . also who actually makes the best pc%26#39;s any1 know? o and whats the best nvidia card out there right now? im doing this cuz i need a new computer im also cosidering buying a  mac becuz of those funny commercials lol who makes the best pc
I think the hardware forum might be better suited to ya mate, the mods will move this over for ya.PS. I%26#39;ve got a HP computer. who makes the best pc
I put other (other means, get a custom built one from a local PC shop or build one yourself, its much cheaper) :)And if you get a mac, you cant expect to play many games on them, considering Mac%26#39;s are not really designed for games and almost all games do not work with Macs :)
I guess the user makes the best PC...

Order the parts a build the computer yourself. Just about everything is listed in detailed steps in the manuals. Most stuff only fits one way. It might burn your nerves but yeah... its rather simple... then again I did install the RAM into the wrong slot... simple... yeah...

User +Well, home built PC = superb.
Yes, I and many like me who are PC builders, build the best PCs.
Cyberpower You pick your case, you pick the PSU... you pick the type of RAM.. you pick if you want neons..you even pick the type of mobo Not many other companies let you do that.. and on benchmarks a maxed out Cyberpower rig outperforms Dell (at similar specs) The benchmark was done through PC World.. check their site for recommendations. BTW, they even OC it for you :) Saving you the trouble of waiting for parts.. and you get warranty with the company on top of the parts warranty.. which is a BIG plus!Tech support... etc.. this is one advantage over that of ''build your own'' One more thing.. the price of the rig you put together is pretty damn reasonable compared to other companies.. especially that of DELL, Gateway, etc
Actual PC builders................it%26#39;s then a question of best parts............
Any PC can be good, but you have to upgrade up to the gaming hypes..... It%26#39;s all how much you wanna spend.
Homebuilt, if you got the small amount of know-how needed, is 100% the right choice.  Save hundreds of dollars, and you make it to your spec exactly!  Only downside is no warranty, but thats ok since each part has a warranty.
Falcon Northwest and voodoopc are the best for the consumer route they make great Pcs using great parts and they tweak them very well. Also the styling and services they provide are top notch as well. Dell actually isn%26#39;t that bad as far as the big guys go they%26#39;re my fave-very cheap with generally decent service and pretty reliable machines. The XPS series is a gamers best friend (I own one) I also build however and if possible would encourage you to as well

Another advantage I just discovered recently.. I had lost my old XP CD from a Dell comp.. a 2.0 Ghz PC bought in 2001.. they shipped me a new XP SP2 OEM disk with NO charge.. if you build your own.. you would have to pay for another copy.. Warranties from the company overshadow that of the components.. which means those 90 day warranties on those parts.. forget about them, if you have a 1yr warranty with the company.. if something screws up.. call them up.. and if they can%26#39;t help you fix the problem.. they will send you a brand new comp. Small issues with your computer that you can%26#39;t resolve on your own? Call tech support.. no need to dig through the web searching for a possible solution.. There are advantages to buying a comp over ''building'' one.. not to mention ''less hassle'' Yes you pay for those ''conveniences'' but the ''piece of mind'' (at least for me) outweighs the possible ''failure'' of a component.
Um, less hassle for building your own tbh, I bought a dell 5 years ago and it didnt boot, after 2 weeks they sent a guy to fix the POS.Also,  with the XP cd thing, I have over 5 copies of xp... honestly those cds are so abundant, every damn household has one. Nobody would go and buy another one, just go call microsoft and tell them you lost it and they will send another one, tell them your unique authentication code.Hell, I have friends who have lost their authetication code sticker, they just ask microsoft for a new one. Also I have formatted my pc over 5 times, which means the authetication code is invalid cause it says its been used too many times for install, just ask Microsoft for a new one.

Though, the company that replaced my comp was Compaq, My laptop had bad clusters on the HD.. and they replaced it with no charge.

Here%26#39;s how to boost  your PC into a hardcore gaming monster:
• Buy a copy of Windows XP Professional
• Format your boot drive
• Install Windows XP Professional to your boot drive.
• Now play your games at 10X the performance than with Vista

** Interesting Indie Game Blog **

Well, I found this site some days ago.:)
It%26#39;s like archive or preview or something about game, I think game review and download links on this site is from independent game developer (like japanese one)

http://gameindythailand.blogspot.com

There are many game that I%26#39;ve never played or even heard of! But they all looks impressive. Shame that this site is in Thai. So that I don%26#39;t understand what the review said. Anyway, all download links are all english(of course!)

So, just check it out. (I just download ''Cave Story''(Doukutsu Monogatari) and play it for some times, which is in fact very good game. So, try to download this game too.)** Interesting Indie Game Blog **

Can't get my unlocked wepons in battle field 2!!!

thnx for helping me out with my last post but i have yet another problem. yes another one....i finally ranked and when it gave em the option to  chosse a new weapon I clicked choose later. now, I can%26#39;t figure out how to choose my weapon. i cant find anywhere on the game tha allows me to unlock a new gun. Can't get my unlocked wepons in battle field 2!!!
Well what I%26#39;m thing that when you get promoted again you will will be able to unlock two weapons so you need to wait till you get promoted again. Can't get my unlocked wepons in battle field 2!!!
I%26#39;m pretty sure it%26#39;s in the BFHQ section in the game, should let you unlock it there.
Same thing happened to me twice actually.  The first time I simply rebooted the game and when I logged in, it let me select the unlock.  The second time I just went to BFHQ and somewhere there was an option. Now if only I could get the problem with my CD drive fixed I could play it again...

• Poll - Favourite Starcraft race

Which Starcraft race do you think of when you remember Starcraft? Which race did you spend hours and hours mastering, learning all the nooks and crannies of its units? This was supposed to have a poll with it, but something went awry.
The three options were quite unimaginative:
1. Terran - and the mighty Battlecruiser
2. Protoss - and the mighty Carrier
3. Zerg - and the mighty...uhh, the mighty...uhh...ZerglingPoll - Favourite Starcraft race
Protoss.Zealot rushing FTW. Poll - Favourite Starcraft race
Though I love the fact that all three races are well ballenced, I would have to say Prots are my favorite. Dark Templars and Archons rule!

Looking to buy a new game to play online? any advice

i plapy hl dm alot.. its pretty cool , is it the best FPS game out right now? then i was looking for another type of game.. something lilke age of empires and rise of rome.. i loved those onlineanyone know where i can play those online at now?  not the new ones.. those dont compare to the old ones and what are the most popular games these days?    Looking to buy a new game to play online? any advice
lol those games are boring, your should try battlefield 2.Looking to buy a new game to play online? any advice
Try FEAR Combat, it%26#39;s free.
i did and didnt like it, i would recommend EVE also its great.
so which one? fear, eve, or battlefield?
delete eve cause it take sooo much time and u have to pay monthly so i would recommend that u buy battlefield 2 and download the fearcombat for free.
Try Guild Wars, free and better than eve
Play Diablo II with expansion, much better :P And WoW of course.
does guild wars take alot of time to play?   i dont need a rpg.. if its like age of empires thats good.. so is diablo ll better than battlefield 2 and fearcombat?
is fear combat better than halflife deathmatch? whats a game like age of empires?
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is about to come out; buy that.

hmmmm.i think fable 2,from what iv seen it look%26#39;s pretty hardware worthy.8)
H2 for Vista or Cyrsis
Bioshock, or UT3
Unreal Tournament 3 :)
Unreal Tournament 3 :)
nah UT3 will run on 6600s... unless that is not what the TC meant. IMO it will possibly be Age of Conan, because you%26#39;ll have huge PVP castle warfar with siege units and dozens of other players all with a real time combat system. That will probably take a good amount of CPU power. I%26#39;m just talking with high hopes for the game lol it may be very easy to run i dont know...
Unreal Tournament 3 :)
On highest settings, UT3 will be a monster.
Halo 2 for PC is a joke, it%26#39;s only demanding Vista, otherwise, it%26#39;ll run fine on just about any 3 year-old PC.
Unreal Tournament 3
Bioshock (obviously), UT3, eh I don%26#39;t know what else :P
Huxley? It looks intense!
Storm of War: Battle of Britain most likely.
I%26#39;m betting a UT3 Based game I actully think R6V is going to be a harder game to runthen crysis and it%26#39;s already out.
Crysis doesnt appear to be a very demanding game.  Its requirements are on Par with current games, even lower then some.....Its seems a lot like HL2 in that area.
Crysis doesnt appear to be a very demanding game.  Its requirements are on Par with current games, even lower then some.....Its seems a lot like HL2 in that area.
Yep you said it. Whats demanding of crysis is the CPU you will need a pentium D or a athlon X2 to get full quality out of the game.
Hugs e6600 :P

R6V might be one of the stupidest ports ever, as there are no real scaling options whatsoever than a few things. If you can run the game good, then great, but for those with weaker systems should just forget it.  AND WHAT THE **** IS UP WITH THE LACK OF ANTI ALIASING AND WIDESCREEN SUPPORT!?!?  Maybe I shoulda just kept the 360 version......
